The consultation “Local Management and Risk Reduction in Human Settlements of the Caribbean Basin”, held in Havana, Cuba, on September 17-19, was a joint initiative of the Risk and Disaster Management Division of UN-Habitat and the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (ISDR). On this occasion, representatives of a number of institutions including to central governments, local authorities, national offices for emergency management, and civil society at large gathered to assess the general situation of human settlements and discuss means for future collaboration and cooperation.
